Today, Dr. Civin serves as a senior psychologist at Rose Hill Psychological Services, an award-winning, community-based mental health center located in the Bronx, New York City. Since co-founding the organization in 2008, he has helped provide high-quality psychotherapy and psychological services designed to meet the needs of diverse patients. In addition, he has maintained a private practice since 2007, working with individuals in Manhattan, Astoria, and Bayville. His professional focus includes psychodiagnostics, adult psychology, adolescent psychology, group psychology, and clinical supervision.
An accomplished psychologist begins with a solid educational background, and Dr. Civin’s academic journey reflects that principle. He earned his A.B. degree with cum laude honors from Harvard College in 1968 before attending Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He later completed a Master of Arts degree at the University of Oregon and earned a second M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University. In 1988, he received his Ph.D. from Adelphi, followed by a Postdoctoral Certificate in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in 1993.
Beyond clinical responsibilities, Dr. Civin has devoted considerable time to higher education. Throughout his career, he has served as a full professor, associate professor, and faculty member at several academic institutions, mentoring future professionals in psychology. His scholarly contributions have also appeared in medical journals and psychology publications, demonstrating his dedication to advancing the profession through research and education.
